Free Delivery vs. Pickup: How It Works, and What Delivery Day Actually Looks Like
Two ways to get the cart, and which one you get depends entirely on how long you're renting. Neither is a downgrade — they're built around different kinds of trips.
The rule: three nights is the line
Three nights or more: free delivery and pickup, anywhere on Pleasure Island. Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, condo, rental house, driveway, designated lot at your complex — we bring the cart to you and we come get it at the end. No delivery fee, no zone surcharge, no "island-wide except the parts that are far."
One night, same-day, and half-day rentals: pickup at our Carolina Beach staging area. That's 1324 N Lake Park Blvd.
Why short rentals are pickup
It isn't a penalty. A one-night rental has a delivery leg, a collection leg, and a single night of revenue between them; the driving alone would eat the rental. But there's a better reason: for a short rental, pickup is usually faster for you than delivery is.
Many of our carts are already staged in permit parking on the island rather than sitting in a yard somewhere. On a 5 AM Early Bird, you're not waiting on a delivery window at sunrise — you walk to a cart that's already there, and you're on the road. Coordinating a driver to a house at 5:00 in the morning would make that trip worse, not better.
What delivery day actually looks like
For 3+ night rentals, here's the sequence, start to finish.
Before you arrive, we confirm by text. That's where you give us the delivery address and we give you an arrival window. If your plans shift on the drive down — and they do — text us. The window moves.
On arrival, we bring the cart to the address and park it where you want it, subject to whatever space actually exists at your property. If your complex has designated cart parking, that's where it goes. If it doesn't, we'll work out the best spot with you on the phone before we roll up.
The walkthrough takes a few minutes. Controls, forward/reverse, lights, turn signals, horn, the Bluetooth pairing, seat belts, and where the charger lives. We show you the charging setup specifically — you'll want a standard 110V outlet, ideally within about six feet, and no extension cords. If your unit's outlet situation is awkward, tell us during booking and we'll sort it out before delivery rather than discovering it in your driveway.
Keyless entry is set up on request. The carts carry onboard telematics, so you can start from your phone if that's what you want. Some people love it; some want a key. Either is fine.
Documents: every driver shows a valid license. That's not a policy preference — an LSV is a registered motor vehicle on public roads, and driving one requires a license the same as anything else with a plate. Whoever will be driving needs to be present at delivery or at pickup. See who can and should rent for the age rules.
The hold is an authorization hold, not a charge. A flat $100 on every rental, whatever you book — sized so that if you decide on the day to keep the cart another day, we can just add it. It shows as pending on your card and it falls off when the rental closes out. We do not capture deposits — that's written into how we operate, not a promise we make case by case.
At the end
For delivery rentals we come to you. Universal checkout is 10:30 AM — same clock as a hotel, which is deliberate: it lines up with when you're already loading the car, instead of forcing a separate trip on your last morning.
Leave it plugged in the night before if you can. Not required, but it's the neighborly thing and it keeps the next family's morning on schedule.
The pass comes with the cart, either way
Delivery or pickup, the Town of Carolina Beach LSV parking pass comes with the Road Service Plan — the $10-per-rental-day line on your quote, mandatory March 1 through September 30, which is most of the season. So in that window every cart goes out with the pass already on it. Nothing for you to apply for or arrange with the town; it's handled before the cart reaches you. Worth knowing what it does and doesn't cover, though: it's a Carolina Beach pass, it doesn't work in Kure Beach, and a handful of town lots charge everyone regardless.
